Bruce Skyer has spent his “second” career providing his business and organizational development expertise to great mission-driven organizations. Immediately prior to joining Child First in November 2017, Mr. Skyer worked as an independent consultant to nonprofits around the country. Previously, Mr. Skyer was Chief Executive Officer of the National Kidney Foundation, the leading organization in the US dedicated to the awareness, prevention, and treatment of kidney disease. He spearheaded a significant turnaround of the Foundation, putting its financial house in order, creating and implementing a new strategic plan, and significantly increasing the number of patients served.
Prior to his CEO position, Mr. Skyer was Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of the Nonprofit Finance Fund, establishing the operational capabilities necessary to allow the Fund to double its size during his tenure. Before joining the nonprofit sector, he worked for several Fortune 500 corporations, focusing on finance, treasury, risk management, and business development. Mr. Skyer received his MBA in Finance from Fordham University and a BA in Political Science from Columbia University.
